FEW SCUFFS Lee Dunholter Professor Emeritus, Franklin Pierce University, was the former scenic designer for the Peterborough Players, New Hampshire Dance Institute(NHDI) and principle designer for the World Room: Interactive Exhibits at the former Keene Children’s Museum. Lee is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (OCAS), Franklin Pierce College, and Harvard University. He also attended the Cincinnati Art Academy and Banff School of Fine Arts. Professor Dunholter is a recipient of an Ewing Arts Award for his work as an artist and Scenic Designer and received recognition for teaching excellence in Scenic Design from The Kennedy Center ACTF. Initially, Lee was attracted to the bright colors and bold graphics used to capture the attention of the fairgoers and lure them to the concessions stands. Working from photographs, and incorporating his early training in mechanical engineering and commercial art, Lee uses complex lines, planes, and colors in a style he calls “realistic impressions,” seeking to convey an instant sense of recognition and fun for the viewer. With this technique, he creates accessible images that are powerful in detail and packed with vivid colors and crisp graphics.
